Warsman Begins - Kamen no Kokuhaku! (ウォーズマンビギンズ 仮面の告白!, "Warsman Begins - Confessions of the Mask!") is the first chapter from Kinnikuman vol. 37.

In 1981, before the finals of the 21st Chojin Olympics, Warsman (Nikolai Volkoff) remembers of his past. When he was a little kid, he used a sack over his head to hide his robotic face, and he was treated poorly by other due to this, several kids throwing rocks at him while he was taking bread and milk back home. He was poor and took care of his mother, who was dying due to an illness. Knowing her time was close, his mother, Natasha Volkoff, reveals him that his father, Mikhailman, was a famous Chojin wrestler champion. Despite being a champion, Mikhail told Natasha that he wanted to become stronger, and went for a Czech doctor named Yuri Kopylov that was searching for a Chojin strong enough to endure a remodelling into a mechanical

Chojin. Six months later, Mikhail returned with a modified body, but his heart was still the same. After some time, Nikolai is born, and they were a happy family. However, one day Mikhail started acting strange during a match, becoming agressive to the point of killing his opponent and the referee. When he comes back to his senses. Being unable to stand what he did, he reveals a switch hidden on his abdomen and, after saying goodbye to Natasha and the baby Nikolai, self-destructed. With this, Nikolai learns why he is part machine. His mother bids farewell and passes away.

Ten years later, the SKGB invites Nikolai to join them and become a Chojin wrestler. The SKGB gives him his black armor and the stagename Warsman, and he receives intensive training. Unknown to them, a man (Barracuda) appears to be interested on Warsman's abilities and sneaks inside. During a break, one of the Chojin, Kommandas, is impressed with Warsman being able to withstand their hellish

training, as at least ten people drop out every day. Warsman says he will never drop out and considers it to be heaven, as they get all the exercise they need, eat all the food they want, and sleep under a warm blanket, and asks Kommandas to withstand it. After six months of training, Warsman is connected to several cables in a laboratory and is asked to use his computer brain to locate a secret technique from one of the western first-rate Chojin wrestlers, and by doing so he learns Robin Mask's Palo Special. Barracuda watches from the shadows and is impressed with Warsman's talent, deciding that he will be able to defeat Kinnikuman.

At night, Warsman goes out of his room to pick water for his flower and listens to a conversation between Kowalski and his men. The only reason the SKGB is training Chojin is to use them as robotic Chojin soldiers capable of destroying an entire army, the wrestling training being only a huse, and with the success of the first soldier, Warsman, they plan to massproduce him. Angry, Warsman enters in the room and fights against the people inside, and decides to leave when armed soldiers appear. The injured Kowalski tells them to not fire and leave him to their second robot Chojin soldier. While running, Kommandas, now a cold-hearted robot Chojin soldier, appears and attacks Warsman. Warsman doesn't want to harm his friend, but Barracuda reveals himself and tells him that no longer the Kommandas he knew, but a killer machine, and that to become a great Chojin, Warsman must be cold-hearted, be precise like an angel, and bold like a devil. Warsman than uses his Bear Claw and the Palo Special to kill Kommandas, and Barracuda reveals that he is Robin Mask, taking Warsman to Japan so he can become a great Chojin wrestler.
